All schools in Denton ISD will be closed for a four day weekend during this Easter weekend from March 29 to April 1. This is normal, as DISD typically holds four day weekends over Easter, unless there were previously missed days in the school year due to weather.
Students have their priorities straight for this coming weekend.
“I will get to relax and get a nice break from school while also spending time with family” – said Colton Catalina, a student at Guyer High School
Easter is a very important holiday. This makes the whole weekend a big deal, as it was the weekend Jesus Christ was crucified by the Romans.
Easter weekend means many different things to different families. Although some families may not celebrate it, everyone has the time off in Denton ISD.
Students have their own opinions on what Easter weekend means to them.
“Lots of food, and a time of appreciation for Jesus” – said Catalina.
Some families may not think it is appropriate to have four days off from school, that may be because they don’t celebrate the holiday, or they simply believe Easter Sunday is enough celebration.
“The holiday is a big deal, and Good Friday is real and the extra added weather day following Easter is simply placed on that day” – said Timothy Cooper, another student at Guyer High School. He believes that the four day weekend is appropriate.
The purpose for Monday, April 1 being an off day is a scheduled weather makeup day. Because there were no missed days earlier in the school year due to weather, students and teachers will enjoy this day off.
DISD will open back up on Tuesday, April 2 and will hopefully have every student return safely. It is expected that students will be out and about over the weekend and DISD most definitely wishes them a safe weekend.
