There are plenty of places students go to have fun. More often than not, students tend to spend more time at specific spots. Teachers must wanna know why students go to these locations, and this article should enlighten them on why students prefer these places.
To initiate my thoughts, kids in Guyer tend to gravitate towards the library, as it provides a safe, quiet space to hang out with friends and participate in club activities. It also holds the E-Sports lab, which is a very popular club among the students.
Preston Miller, a Sophomore at Guyer says “I think the library is pretty cool. I like going there because my friends tend to hang out there a lot.”
Another popular place in the school is the Rotunda, which is a little more inviting and social than the library. Students tend to go here due to its fun and basic nature, leading to a lot of room to participate in fun social activities.
Miller continues “I prefer the Rotunda to the library, only because more of my friends hang out there than the library.”
And while these places are sure to offer a lot of fun in the school alone, there are also a lot more places outside of school that can offer just as much fun, if not more.
Believe it or not, students love going to corner stores as they provide cheap, easy things while also offering an easy place for students to meet and hang out.
Dylan Mccormack, another Sophomore at Guyer says “Gas stations are low-key chill. They have a nice environment and I enjoy the smell of gas. I prefer them to Starbucks because they are quick and convenient.”
Students also enjoy places like Starbucks, because it’s a nice place to sit down and enjoy a cup of coffee. It provides a simple place to relax and lounge about with friends.
Mccormack proceeds “ Starbucks is nice, I enjoy relaxing there. However, they spelled my name wrong once so I hold a little bit of a grudge.”
Back to the topic of school, students also tend to enjoy many different teachers’ classrooms for a plethora of reasons.
Many students like Mrs. Weeses’ classroom because it feels super inviting, she also gives out passes to eat lunch in her room, so kids can enjoy lunch quietly.
But what does this mean for teachers who wish to apply this information? How should they do it? Teachers can apply this info in many ways, an easy first step just being easier to talk to and being more inviting.
Teachers can also add to this by making general classes more fun using simple techniques like attempting to connect with the students and making simple funny jokes. This will improve a student’s likelihood of staying there more and connecting with the class.
All of this will lead to a more productive class and future for Guyer, connecting with the places students enjoy and learning from them. It will create a better school for everyone.
