After winning 12 games this season, this next Tuesday, March 26, The Guyer boys varsity soccer team will be playing their first playoff game versus Flower Mound high school at Neal E. Wilson Jaguar Stadium.
The soccer team needs to win six games to make it to the final. The level of the teams has improved considerably, but all of them agree that this year the level of the Guyer team is much better because they have been working really hard on having an amazing connection between the players that, as we have seen this season, works very well.
“I think the level of the team this year is much better because of the chemistry of the team,” Hunter Sauser, a Guyer soccer player, said.
The players are really thrilled to go to the playoffs and have an amazing time with their team. Last year the team didn’t make it to the playoffs, so this is a good opportunity for the players to demonstrate their skills.
“I expect for us to obviously win the games and get to where we want to be, which is the final,” Juan Ignacio Villarroel, a Guyer soccer player said. “I’m mostly excited about playing in the tournament and to see how it goes.”
Some players want to continue playing soccer after high school, so this is the perfect time to not only show their skills, but the passion and effort they put into the sport. To be good at soccer, you need to spend a lot of time playing and exercising and not everyone is able to give up their free time to dedicate it to soccer.
“If you want to be a professional player in today’s market, you have to be fully committed. Every inch of your being needs to be determined to play. If you are hedging your bets, you won’t be as good of a player as you can be,” Bobby Warshaw, a professional soccer player said.
Not only is the team willing to give their all in the games to reach the finals, but their families, friends and classmates will be at the games supporting the team as they have never done before. Guyer students wish them the best of luck. Go Wildcats!.
