This school year, the Guyer Band is excited to present its marching show, “One.” A performance that aims to capture unity, featuring “Pines of Rome” by Ottorino Respighi, “One is the Loneliest Number” by Three Dog Night, “Wonderful World” by Louis Armstrong, and “Come Together” by The Beatles.
“I’m looking forward to it all literally coming together as one, so when we get to our first contest on the 27th of September, we’ve got most everything ready to go, and that by UIL we are complete,” said Assistant Band Director Jermy Earnheart.
The band has been working hard at a rapid pace to prepare for UIL, where they will compete against other schools, be ranked, and potentially advance to state.
Until then, they will be performing during halftime on Varsity game days as well as attending smaller competitions throughout Sept. Recently, they’ve extended their morning rehearsals by 30 minutes (now 6:30-8:30 a.m.) so that the band can progress even more in preparation for all that is to come.
If you see a member of the Guyer Band, make sure to wish them luck for their next performance!
