The school had a strong year with many achievements, both in academics, sports and other activities. With all the hard work that has been done in these areas, students have shown their grit and passion in their talents.
In academics, the school received national recognition for its Advanced Placement Program. The school was inducted to the 2025 AP School Honor Roll by the College Board. This award is for schools where many students take AP classes and pass the exams. To qualify, at least 40% of graduates must take an AP exam and at least 25% must score a three or higher.
The students are challenging themselves with harder classes and preparing for college taking AP classes which can help students earn college credit and be ready for future education. With every droning night spent studying for an AP test and every tutorial they make time to attend, these students fought throughout the year to ensure their future is a good one.
In sports, the school continues to do well in competitions. The football team made it to the area round of the UIL Class 6A Division 2 playoffs and won a playoff game against Dallas Jesuit; a tough team that Guyer competed against for the championship trophy. Even through the heated game they seemed to persevere and embody Guyer’s ambitious mentality.
“We have to be absolutely locked in,” Alessandro Melendez said, “We have to have the mentality that we’re about to put someone in the dirt.”
Other teams also had some success in their competitions. The girls soccer team made it to the regional semifinal round in the 2026 season, giving a strong performance during the playoffs and showing their hard work throughout the season.
In fine arts, students also did a great job. Some students were selected for Texas Music Educators Association All-State groups, which is a big honor for musicians. Choir has gotten all one and two scoring on their UIL competitions which is considered an outstanding score.
“I believe the choir did a pretty good job, and at UIL this year, we had some tricky spots in a few songs, but we improved throughout the practice,” freshman Maliyah Hale said. “I could tell the choir was especially more locked in the UIL season resulting in us getting all around ones and both singing in sight reading.”
Overall, Guyer had a successful year with achievements in many areas. The school continues to show strong performance and give students many opportunities to succeed both in and out of the classroom.
